Requisite Author Bio
I'm a grandmother of five. I've formally studied logic, theater, computer science, anthropology, economics and several others. I've written poetry, greeting cards, music and advertising campaigns, but managed to just read every science fiction book I could get my hands on for nearly forty years. My first story was fan fiction. I surrendered to the inevitable when a group of women asked me to write for them at Mediawest, the annual con which focuses on fan produced works, in 1992. I knew what they meant. I'd noticed the rarity of science fiction action/adventure that focused more on characters than battles or technology too. I spent six years developing my storytelling skills and mastering the craft of writing. I had the luxury of being able to devote the amount of time to it that's required to get a master's degree in any performing art. I believe I've put the time my wonderful husband gave me to do it to good use. I'm a talespinner. I invite you to find a place by the fire while I spin a tale of heroes of the wide velvet night. May 1, 1998: I had planned to add a new book to these pages about once a month, but have had little time to work on those which are nearing completion. One article on e-book publishing became several for various publications and other writing has been neglected. The interest in the subject, and questions by a large number of writers attending a panel on e-book publishing, demonstrated an obvious need for a resource to aid writers and readers to find professionals in electronic book publishing. I recently began a webring, 3rd Millenium Pros, to help fulfill that need. I finished construction of the ring home page last week and invitations to publishers and writers which meet ring criteria has now begun. I've also begun working to create an information base to send to the National Writers Union on this subject. It is my hope the union will aid e-publishers and writers wishing to submit to this new market by developing more specific guidelines and a standard contract format. I am currently working on an article for the Local newsletter. I'm learning research for submission of my own books has made me somewhat of an expert on the subject. When the article is complete, I'll add it to these pages, with union permission. (Added June 15, 1998)

It's been a long time since we lived on a graduate student budget, but we haven't forgotten how and we feel like we've come home. Silver City has a thriving writing community and in January Paul starts classes. My youngest son came down to look the place over and plans to move his family here after the first of the year.
All right, you asked for it.This was taken at four AM on Sunday morning at a con that started Thursday.Usually I'm thinking fast enough to dodge people with cameras. If you've been to a science fiction convention, you know exactly why I looked that bad.
Several people who know me well requested I add this picture to the page.I was in my mid thirties when it was taken, but I can still get into the dressand it represents a part of my life that is the source of knowledge apparent in some of my books. It's a publicity picture from the time I was a'rock star.'
